Using the BooLean tool to create Cheese

I started by creating both a box and a sphere. I made the sphere much smaller than the box.

I placed the sphere on the top right corner of the box.

I then selected the box, clicked on the drop down list and selected 'compound object'.

I selected Boolean from the buttons, selected 'pick operand b' and then selected the sphere.

The sphere then disappeared and created a hole in the box.

If I had placed the box and sphere differently and selected 'operand a' it would have made the box disappear and a hole would be created by the box onto the sphere.

After making a small hole in the box I decided to turn it into cheese, I made several holes and made it yellow.

Using the Lathe Tool.

I used the Lathe tool today to create a bowl. I did this by first using the line tool. You can get 'line' by selecting the 'create' tool bar button. After selecting 'line' I created a V shape as in half of the bowl:

I then went into the 'modify' menu and selected Lathe.

When you use 'Lathe' he most important thing is that your pivot point is correct.

You can adjust the pivot point by selecting it in the right hand propertise.

My bowl shape was automatically created!

I thought this was very easy to do.

I decided to add lighting to the bowl, I did this by selecting create along the top navigation menu, then selecting lights and then spotlights.

I decided to place them at different angles and I really liked the outcome.

I think it looks as if it is glass.

The lathe tool is very useful if you remember that the pivot point is very important. If you change the pivot point on the shape then you will get a very different shape.
